Family Mediation Week 2025: Putting People, Not Problems, at the Heart of Separation

At EB & Co. Mediation, we believe separation doesn’t have to mean conflict. That’s why we’re proud to support Family Mediation Week 2025, an annual campaign led by the Family Mediation Council to raise awareness of the benefits of family mediation. Running from 27 to 31 January, the week offers a chance to spotlight a better, more constructive way forward for separating couples and families.

What Is Family Mediation Week?

Family Mediation Week is all about opening up conversations and helping separating couples understand how mediation can support them. It aims to show that there is a way to manage divorce or separation that reduces stress, avoids unnecessary court proceedings, and focuses on collaboration rather than confrontation.

Organised by the Family Mediation Council, the campaign includes a range of free resources, webinars, and events for the public and professionals alike. This year’s theme puts the focus on people, not problems, highlighting how mediation is designed to support families as individuals, with practical solutions that reflect their unique needs.

Why Family Mediation Matters

Mediation offers couples a calmer, more cost-effective alternative to going to court. Whether you’re separating after years of marriage or ending a civil partnership, mediation helps you work through the practicalities like finances, property, and child arrangements in a neutral, supportive space.

  • You stay in control
  • Decisions are made together
  • Your children’s needs are prioritised
  • It’s faster and more affordable than litigation

At EB & Co. Mediation, we regularly see the difference mediation can make, helping people move forward with clarity, respect, and confidence.

What to Expect During Family Mediation Week

Throughout the week, the Family Mediation Council will be sharing helpful resources and hosting free events that explain what mediation involves, how it works, and how it can help families move forward. Whether you’re going through a separation, supporting someone who is, or working in the family law sector, there’s something for everyone.

We encourage anyone considering separation or currently navigating one to use this week to explore their options. Early engagement with mediation can make a significant difference, both emotionally and financially.
